What was reported?
Mbielu-mbielu-mbielu is a Likouala-region tradition often illustrated online as a surviving stegosaur. The accessible written case rests largely on an expedition’s collection of a secondhand story rather than a series of independently documented sightings.
In the standard source chain, Odette Gesonget related a story from her parents during a 1980 expedition and selected a stegosaur illustration as a comparison. Descriptions emphasised shapes along the back. A response to an offered picture cannot be treated as an independently produced anatomical drawing.
1980 dates the expedition interview recorded in the later source chain. The informant relayed her parents’ account; it is not the date of a verified sighting by her.
